Hi, I’m Jo, a London-based photographer and writer.
In early 2020, around the same time that I expanded my houseplant collection, I started taking photos of my plants. My then-partner commented that one of them was good enough to share, so in early December I did just that, on Instagram.
I wanted more control of my images so it wasn’t long before I got a DSLR. Cut to me atop Mam Tor in the Peak District, googling ISO whilst braced against the icy November wind.
My main driver when taking photos is to create a beautiful, striking image. I especially love compositions that defamiliarize the subject, transforming it into an abstract image or pattern – or making it appear like something else entirely. A close-up of overlapping Monstera leaves becomes a landscape of rolling hills; reflections in a hilltop pond read like a strange, beautiful script; orchid roots drift seaweed-like in a crimson sea.
A selection of my photographs can be viewed here. Fine art archival prints of some of them are available in my Etsy store. If you’re interested in any other image/print size, please do contact me, either on here or on Instagram.
